Communities / Colbert
If you’re exploring Colbert real estate, you may be looking for a little more room without leaving your North Spokane routines behind. That could mean a home in an established neighborhood, space for a garden, or acreage where the view from the kitchen window feels like part of the reason you moved.
Colbert is an unincorporated community north of Spokane, and the name covers more than one kind of living experience. Two homes with a Colbert mailing address can have very different surroundings, routes, and upkeep. I’d start with the way you want to live, then help you work toward the right address.
For a broader look around North Spokane, explore my Mead community guide and Green Bluff community guide as well. Tell me what appeals to you, and we can use that to choose where to look next.
Getting to Know Everyday Life in Colbert
When we tour homes, I encourage you to try the trips you would actually make: groceries, coffee, a library visit, work, and a place to walk. The Hatch and Midway area, the Newport Highway corridor, and the roads toward Green Bluff offer different starting points. A place can look wonderfully close on a map and still take you in the opposite direction from the rest of your day.
Think about how often you want to leave home, too. A large yard is more appealing when you enjoy using it. If your ideal Saturday includes a long breakfast and very little mowing, we can keep that in mind. The lawn does not get a vote.
Coffee, Lunch, and the Errands That Fill a Week
Midway Market brings together groceries, PURE Coffee, pastries, and a bistro with sandwiches, salads, and other meal options. I like that an everyday stop can cover coffee, a few groceries, and something for lunch. A little efficiency leaves more of the weekend for the reason you wanted extra space in the first place.
For a larger shopping trip, Wandermere Fred Meyer offers groceries along with clothing, home goods, and garden supplies. The newer North 40 Outfitters in Mead, at 14411 N. Newport Highway, is another useful regional stop for people whose shopping lists involve pets, outdoor projects, or property upkeep.
Parks, a Patio, and a Movie Night
Bidwell Park has a walking route, sports courts and fields, and a large seasonal aquatic facility. At Pine River Park, the play area and open fields are appealing, but the Little Spokane River is the feature that makes the setting stand out to me.
For an evening out, Twigs Wandermere pairs a comfortable indoor setting with a pond-side patio, outdoor heaters, and fireplaces. Village Centre Cinemas at Wandermere adds a local movie option with multiple screens and the familiar popcorn-and-soda routine. These are driving destinations from many Colbert homes, so we can compare the actual route from the properties you like.
Highway Connections and the North Spokane Corridor
Depending on the address, US 2/Newport Highway and US 395 provide useful connections to Northside services and the wider region. The North Spokane Corridor, often called the north-south freeway, already has northern sections open. Work continues on the southern connection toward I-90. I would evaluate today’s route first and treat the unfinished connection as a future improvement, with WSDOT’s project page as the source for current construction updates.
Colbert Homes, Neighborhoods, and Acreage
You don’t have to want a small farm to be interested in Colbert. We can look at established subdivisions, larger residential lots, and rural properties, depending on how much space you’d enjoy. The home in the illustration shows one possibility. Your version might look quite different, and that’s a good reason to explore.
Start with the Summerwood, Kimberly Park, Silver Pines Estates, and Bidwell Park guides for a closer look at individual areas. For another nearby point of comparison, explore Wandermere.
If acreage is the attraction, tell me what you’d like to do with it. A shop, a garden, or extra parking each raises different questions about usable land, access, and the systems serving the home. I’ll help you check whether the property supports the plan, along with what it would take to maintain it. My guide to buying acreage near Colbert and Green Bluff explains the questions to bring into the search.
Schools, Routes, and the Details Behind an Address
If schools are part of your decision, use the Mead School District boundary resources and confirm the specific address with the district. A community name alone is not enough to establish school assignment.
We can also compare how the home connects to your regular destinations. The useful question is not just how far away something is, but whether the route works at the times you expect to use it.
Let’s Find Your Version of Colbert
I’m Josiah Boone with Windermere North. With more than 20 years in real estate, I help buyers and sellers connect the appealing parts of a property with the practical details behind them. Tell me what you want more of, what you would like less of, and how much property you actually want to maintain.
If you’re selling in Colbert, we can also talk about how to explain your home’s setting, improvements, and everyday convenience to the next owner. Those details deserve more than a quick mention beside the bedroom count.
