I’d make the park part of your neighborhood visit. Depending on the season, that might mean exploring the outdoor space or planning a swim. A home tour does not have to consist entirely of kitchens and garage doors.
Start with the Park
Bidwell Park has a walking route around the park, sand volleyball courts, pickleball, baseball, and basketball, all in a quiet neighborhood setting. The large Northside Family Aquatics facility makes summer another reason to visit. Check the county’s current season and reservation details when planning a swim.
For a change of scenery, Gleneden Park offers another walking stop, a fun zip line for younger children, and a moose sculpture that tends to be a hit with little ones.
Coffee, Groceries, and an Easy Lunch
Midway Market on Hatch Road combines grocery shopping with coffee, snacks, and pastries. Its bistro lists sandwiches, salads, soups, and hot entrées. I like the flexibility of picking up what you need and staying for a bite if the day allows.
An Evening Around Wandermere
For dinner or drinks, Twigs Wandermere has a roomy patio overlooking a pond, outdoor heaters and fireplaces, and a comfortable interior with tall ceilings. Pairing a meal with Village Centre Cinemas makes an easy local evening. The cinema has multiple screens, arcade games, and the popcorn-and-soda essentials. Deciding who gets the popcorn is up to you.

For newer homes, I’d encourage you to walk through the layout as though you already lived there. Where do the groceries land? Where would you sit with a book? Those small details can help you distinguish between a home that photographs well and one you’ll enjoy using.
