Getting to Know Life Around Five Mile Prairie
Start with Sky Prairie Park, then explore a route toward the cafes and community resources below the prairie. The most useful route will depend on which part of the neighborhood you’re considering.
A Park on the Prairie
Sky Prairie Park is a natural place to begin exploring. Build a little outdoor time into your visit, then try the roads you would use to reach your regular stops below the prairie.
Coffee, a Meeting, or a Frozen-Yogurt Stop
Little Garden Cafe near Whitworth, at 9918 N Waikiki Road, works well for a meeting or a pause between errands. There is plenty of indoor seating, plus baked goods, snacks, and sweets. Parking can be tight at busy times, so I would leave a few extra minutes.
Thomas Hammer Fairwood, at 319 W Hastings Road, is another coffee stop I recommend. Friendly staff, outdoor seating, and a roll-up door give it a relaxed indoor-outdoor feel. The drive-through helps when the day has other ideas.
For a treat, Didier’s Yogurt & More is at 10410 N Division Street. It adds frozen yogurt and casual food to the options around the Whitworth and North Division area. These cafes and shops are trips below the prairie, with the most convenient route depending on the home.
Finding Your Kind of Home
Older homes, established subdivisions, and newer construction can offer quite different experiences. We can compare the setting and layout alongside the amount of outdoor space you want. I’d like you to come away with a clearer picture of what fits you, rather than simply a longer list of houses.
Homes.com’s Five Mile Prairie guide describes older farmhouses alongside established subdivisions and newer construction. That variety is part of why I wouldn’t choose a home here by the neighborhood name alone. Let’s look at the house’s age and updates, the yard, and the drive off the prairie. They all become part of living there.
A Few More Places to Get to Know
North Spokane Library, 44 E Hawthorne Road, is worth keeping in mind if library visits belong in your week. If schools are part of your decision, we can check Mead school boundaries by address.
Whitworth University is on West Hawthorne Road. If the university is part of your routine, I’d include the campus and nearby cafes when exploring the area.
