Motivation Monday Spokane: Well Done Is Better Than Well Said

“Well done is better than well said.”
Benjamin Franklin

There’s something refreshingly simple about that thought.

For this Motivation Monday in Spokane, I’m thinking about follow-through. Most of us probably don’t have a shortage of good intentions. There are things we want to accomplish, conversations we intend to have, projects we’d like to finish, and people we’ve been meaning to spend more time with.

The challenge is turning I should do that into I did that.

A Motivation Monday reminder about follow-through

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that it’s easy to keep adding things to the list. Sometimes the better goal is simply to finish a few things that are already on it.

That applies to work, but it certainly isn’t limited to work. It might be finishing something around the house, calling someone you’ve been meaning to talk with, getting back into a routine, tackling a project you’ve put off, or finally making a decision you’ve been thinking about for too long.

Franklin’s quote gets right to the heart of it. Good intentions have value, but eventually they need action behind them.

Sometimes the best progress is simply finishing

So that’s what I’m focusing on this week.

Not creating a longer list. Not trying to accomplish everything at once. Just choosing a few things that matter and following through on them.

There is something satisfying about reaching Friday and being able to look back at something that was hanging over your head on Monday and say, “That’s done.”

Maybe there’s one of those things waiting for you this week, too.

What would you like to have off your list by Friday?

Have a great week from Spokane and the Inland Northwest.
